Urgent calls and emergencies

What happens, what does not, and how to be sure you see the alert.

Urgent calls are the ones that cannot wait for a Monday recap. This is what Call Kettle does with them.

  • When a caller says things like no heat, no cooling, flooding, sparking or a broken garage door spring, you get an urgent alert by email (and in Slack or Teams if you set that up) while they are still on the line. No heat and no cooling alert you at any hour, open or closed.
  • There is a limit of 10 urgent alerts per hour per business, to stop a flood of alerts from burying real ones.
  • Callers who describe danger, such as a gas smell, a carbon monoxide alarm or a fire, are told to call 911.
  • On Starter and up, urgent callers can be put through to the number you choose in Setup. On Free, the receptionist takes a message.

Make sure you see the alert

  • Confirm your alert email in Setup, and keep notifications on for it on your phone.
  • Add Slack or Teams alerts on plans that include them (guide).
  • Run the urgent test call in the forwarding test and confirm the alert reaches you.

What we do

  • Alert you while the caller is still on the line, and tell callers in danger to call 911.

What we do not do

  • Act as an emergency service. Call Kettle never dispatches anyone, and email delivery time is outside our control.
