Chat alerts are on Growth and up. Booking, message and emergency alerts post to a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel, in addition to email. You create an incoming-webhook address in your chat tool and paste it into Setup.
Slack
- Create a Slack app for your workspace at api.slack.com (Slack's incoming webhooks guide at api.slack.com/messaging/webhooks walks through it).
- In the app settings choose Incoming Webhooks and switch Activate Incoming Webhooks on.
- Click Add New Webhook to Workspace and choose the channel. For a private channel you must be in it first.
- Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/.
- In your dashboard open Setup, find Chat alerts, paste the address and save. Then use the test message.
Microsoft Teams
We accept Teams addresses on webhook.office.com. Microsoft says its older Office 365 Connectors, which make those addresses, are nearing retirement and that creating new ones will soon be blocked, with the Workflows app replacing them. If your Teams cannot make a webhook.office.com address, use Slack or email alerts, or ask us.
Good to know
- We only accept Slack (hooks.slack.com) and Teams (webhook.office.com) addresses, over https.
- Email alerts keep working. Chat is an extra channel, not a replacement.
- Treat the webhook address like a password: anyone with it can post to that channel. If it leaks, make a new one in your chat tool and replace it in Setup.
